Veteran-Owned Business Award

Tony Matos of Altos

Tony Matos was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army upon graduation from the Military Academy at West Point in 1978. He specialized in Supply Chain Management and was deployed to Western Germany. While in Germany, Matos served in a variety of roles in supply and maintenance management, providing general support to both the 3rd Armored Division and 8th Infantry Division at the height of the Cold War.

After three years in Germany, Matos’ next assignment was supporting Reserve Readiness across New England. Matos left active duty in 1984 and continued in the Army Reserves for another four years with the 167th Support Group, headquartered at Grenier Field in Manchester, NH.

While serving in the Reserves, Matos continued his professional career at Raytheon in a variety of engineering and manufacturing positions. He left Raytheon and the Department of Defense initiatives in 1994 to pursue opportunities in commercial software development and held positions of increasing responsibilities at Cabletron, BBN and Software.com.

In 2003, Matos founded Altos, then a search engine marketing consultancy out of Londonderry, NH. After 15 years Altos has become a well respected 20 person digital agency in Bedford, NH, helping companies in numerous industries and sizes grow by leveraging digital marketing strategies and initiatives. Matos thinks of himself as a “servant leader” and leads his staff through guidance, mentoring and support rather than direction.

Aside from leading the efforts at Altos, Matos is chair of the membership committee at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and is president of the board at the NH Humane Society.

Matos has two grown children living and working in the Granite State, two wonderful grandchildren and lives with his wife of 38 years and 3 dogs in Meredith, NH. An avid runner, one of Matos’ goals for 2019 is to run a half-marathon a month and run the Marine Corps Marathon in October.
