MAKING 12 HOURS COUNT

News Radio 96-7 & WGIR-AM 610 Team Up with Veterans Count
for State’s First 12-Hour Radio-thon to Support Local Veterans, Service Members and Their Families

Service members, veterans and their families are heroes. To show support for all they have sacrificed, Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals NH, will take to the airwaves in a groundbreaking 12-hour Radio-thon, presented by Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program, on March 25 from 6 am – 6 pm on News Radio 96-7, WGIR-AM 610 as well as iheartradio.com.

The Radio-thon will feature 12 hours of compelling content about the challenges faced by military families and how Veterans Count and other organizations provide support. Additionally, the Radio-thon will include testimonials from clients, sponsor recognition, celebrity endorsements and check presentations. The Radio-thon, hosted by NH radio legend Jack Heath, will be broadcast live on Manchester’s WGIR-AM 610 and Rochester’s News Radio 96-7. Listeners not in the coverage area for these two stations will be able to access the broadcast online at iHeartRadio.com.

iHeartMedia-New Hampshire VP/GM Joe Graham is humbled and proud to launch the effort, saying: “Our company has made supporting our Veterans a top priority, from the national “Show Your Stripes” initiative aimed at employers who can hire returning vets—to our local involvement in all campaigns and events which support our veterans right here in New Hampshire. Just as Jack Heath has been vocal on the air in support of policies to help veterans, our listeners are just as passionate. We look forward to their making this Radio-thon a huge success!”

The Making 12 Hours Count Radio-thon offers high-visibility, on-air and on-line sponsorship opportunities for local businesses including twelve Supporting Sponsorships for $5,000 each. Half the cost of each sponsorship will be a direct donation to Veterans Count. Veterans Count also seeks support from businesses and individuals interested in grassroots fundraising efforts prior to the Radio-thon. Additionally, volunteers are needed to work the phones for call-in donations.

“LTC Partners is honored to help support the Easter Seals Veterans Count mission to provide assistance to veterans, service members and their families,” said Paul Forte, CEO LTC Partners, administrators of the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP. “We can never fully make up for the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who serve and have served to afford us the political and economic freedoms we enjoy today. But, we can do our small part to make sure those who have made such tremendous sacrifices for our country need not sacrifice any longer when they return home.”

This major effort will directly impact the lives of service members of all eras and their families. Ninety-five cents of every dollar raised will support the needs of military families. Since 2007, more than $1.7M in funding has provided 8,000 individuals with services including suicide prevention, employment, homelessness, substance abuse treatment, transportation, and mental health issues resulting from post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury.

Additionally, Veterans Countprovidesfinancial assistance for food, home maintenance, utilities, housing, rent, fuel assistance, vehicle repair, child care, gasoline, medical bills.

“We are thankful to News Radio 96-7 and WGIR-AM 610 for this opportunity as well as to our friends at Federal Long Term Care Partners Insurance Program,” said Easter Seals President and CEO Larry Gammon. “Over the last eight years, Veterans Count has received tremendous community support and we look forward to bringing this critical cause to the airways.”
