One Veteran’s Story: Shawn
Shawn, an Army Veteran who joined the military right out of high school shared: “If it wasn’t for my wife contacting Veterans Count, we probably would be on the streets right now.” He and his wife, raising seven children, lost their jobs, their cars, and fell behind on rent. Veterans Count stepped in immediately — assessing the situation, making sure the children were safe, and securing stable housing. As he told us, “As a Veteran, you are trained to be a go-getter, to carry on. We’re the protectors, the providers.”
